Hungayono Maleo Sanctuary
Hungayono natural tourist attraction is located in Tulabolo Village, Suwawa Timur District, Bone Bolango Regency, Gorontalo Province. Hungayono location has the natural beauty of cool primary forest, grasslands, limestone caves and sauna caves. In addition to the natural beauty, there are several endemic animals that can be found such as tarsiers, maleos and other endemic bird species. In Hungayono there is also a Maleo Sanctuary as one of the maleo bird sanctuaries from 3 locations in the Bogani Nani Wartabone National Park known as the Hungayono Maleo Sanctuary.
The location of the Hungayono Maleo Sanctuary can be reached by using vehicles, both 2-wheeled and 4-wheeled. From the center of Gorontalo City, it can be accessed by vehicle to Tulabolo village with a travel time of ± one hour or ± 2 hours from Jalaluddin Gorontalo Airport, which is then continued on foot to the Hungayono camp with a travel time of ± 45 minutes.
Similar to other sanctuaries, activities that can be done at this location include observing the behavior of maleo birds when laying eggs, looking for maleo bird eggs, moving the eggs obtained to the hatching tank and releasing maleo chicks. To observe maleo activity when laying eggs is usually done at 05.00 - 10.00. Tourists can make observations through the observation post (watchtower). In addition to observing maleo, at this location tourists can also enjoy Goa Kapur, the natural beauty at the top of the alang-alang rock, bathing in the bone river, Bird Watching and Jungle Tracking.
Gorontalo Whale Shark Tour
