Welcome to Tangkoko Batuputih Nature Recreation Park
TANGKOKO popular name for Batuputih Nature with high conervation value of North Sulawesi's impressive biodiversity.
The forest this home to at least 127 mammal, 233 bird and 104 reptile and amphibian species, of wich the majority are endemic to the island.
Tangkoko was established in 1919 by the Dutch goverment it was officially set up as a nature recreation park in 2016.
Wildlife You May See While Visiting Batuputih Nature Recreation Park
- Macaca Nigra (Sulawesi Creasted Black Macaque) The Yaki iss critically endangered and endemic to North Sulawei.
- Knobbed Hornbill (Rhyticero Caidix) The beautiful endemic bird can often be heard flying in the canopy.
- Tarsius Spectrumgurskyae One of the smallest primates in the world, this nocturnal specie has enormous eyes.
- Sulawesi Bear Cuscus (Ailurops Ursinus) The Sulawesi Bear Cuscusis not a bear but is actually a marsupial that lives in the upper canopy of Sulawesi rainforest in pairs or small groups

Enjoy and Protect
- Keep a respectfull from the wildlife at least 5 meters
- Do not feed any animals
- It i prohibited to cut or pick anything from the forest
- Keep the forest clean, take your litter home
- It i prohibted to smoke,urinate or spit in the forest
- Listen to, and respect your guide they are experts of the area
- Take nothing but photos, leave nothing but footprints.
